PSNS & IMF honors employees during Employee of the Year ceremony

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility held two socially-distanced ceremonies honoring its top employees during its annual Employee of the Year ceremony Monday at the historic Admiral Theater in downtown Bremerton.

In support of COVID-19 mitigation efforts, the two award presentation ceremonies were livestreamed via the command’s Facebook page through the Defense Information Systems Agency for friends, family and coworkers unable to be seated in the theater.

During the event, the command celebrated the accomplishments of 221 employees who were nominated for their 2020 performance in 25 categories.

Categories in which personnel were recognized included supervisors and non-supervisors in administrative, engineering, trades and technical fields. The event also included special categories, including innovation, safety, volunteer service, valor and a “Spirit of Compassion” award.

Capt. Jip Mosman, commander, PSNS & IMF, presided over the event and praised the 31 winners, nominees and the command’s workforce.

“Every day, I’m impressed with the amazing skills and talents of our workforce,” said Mosman. “You are the leaders who drive world-class performance and enable us to meet our mission. You don’t just do the work that makes us successful, you do the hard work that makes us better. You do the hard work that ensures our Navy is ready to engage around the world, to support our allies and deter our adversaries, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”

Today, PSNS & IMF employs more than 14,000 civilian personnel who accomplish the command’s mission to maintain, modernize and retire the U.S. Navy’s fleet.
