Crane, Ind. — A select group of Indiana’s best and brightest college students were honored at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) Aug. 8 during a Blacks in Government (BIG) and the Hoosier Hills Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW) hosted joint scholarship luncheon at Naval Support Activity Crane.
The luncheon honored seven students who demonstrate the values and missions of each organization, with scholarships totaling 6,500 dollars. Those in attendance included scholarship winners, family members, and Crane employees.
As the employer of a diverse and nationally recognized workforce of engineers and technical professionals, NSWC Crane strongly supports employee organizations and thee efforts to promote education through scholarships.
On behalf of BIG, Noah Poellnitz present two scholarship awards to qualifying candidates. BIG functions as an employee support group and an advocate of equal opportunity and professional development for government employees.
FEW Hoosier Hills Chapter President, Amber Graves and Awards Chair Ashley Gill, presented five scholarships. “There is no greater financial investment in one’s future than a college education,” said Graves. “We are proud to invest in the future of these amazing scholarship winners. Congratulations to all the recipients!”
FEW’s mission is to enhance opportunities for career advancement of women with a national focus on education and training. The organization strives to establish and maintain working relationships with federal agencies to advocate for fair personnel laws, policies, procedures and practices.
