140619-N-ZZ999-167 (June 19, 2014) The Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) launches a Standard Missile (SM) 6 during a live-fire test of the ship's aegis weapons system. Over the course of three days, the crew of John Paul Jones successfully engaged six targets, firing a total of five missiles that included four SM-6 models and one Standard Missile-2 (SM-2) model.

The U.S. Navy and held a keel laying and authentication ceremony for the future USS Cincinnati (LCS 20) at Austal USA’s shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, April 10. LCS is a modular, reconfigurable ship designed to host interchangeable mission packages onto the seaframe in support of surface warfare, mine countermeasures, and anti-submarine warfare.

Spencer III, Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) commanding officer, and Dr. Monique Head, Morgan State University Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, sign an historic, formal Education Partnership Agreement between NSWCPD and Morgan State in Philadelphia April 3, 2017. The partnership will unite Morgan State faculty and students with NSWCPD on U.S. Navy research projects and other Science, Technology, Engineering and Math collaboration efforts.
