The ‘rules’ of equipment calibration are designed to keep the fleet operating safely

NEWPORT, R.I. - Metrology and Calibration Laboratory technician Benjamin Sirois, of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport Rapid Prototyping, Calibration and Survivability Branch in the Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department. calibrates a pressure gauge using a precision pressure on Jan. 18, 2023. To keep the U.S. Navy fleet operating safely, laboratory staff maintain more than 800 calibration standards for pieces of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.
