Va. – Navy electromagnetic railgun engineer David Campbell observes middle school students constructing the balsa wood towers they designed at the 2016 Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD)-sponsored Navy science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) Summer Academy, held June 27 to July 1. Campbell – who became enthusiastic about STEM as a middle school student at the annual summer camp – returned to the camp as a Navy engineer to inspire and mentor students in STEM.
