CDR Jesse Martinez is Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport’s Executive Officer. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from Purdue University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and received his commission through the ROTC program upon graduation.
CDR Martinez’s assignments at sea include his Division Officer tours as the Force Protection Officer and Electronics Material Officer aboard USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75) and Fire Control Officer aboard USS NORMANDY (CG 60). His Department Head tours were served as the Weapons Officer aboard USS LASSEN (DDG 82) and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64), the first cruiser to complete the Navy’s reactivation program under the Ship Life Extension Program. Additionally, he served as the Surface Operations Officer at Carrier Strike Group THREE (CSG 3) and embarked aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) during her 2022 deployment. Ashore, he completed a shore tour as the Assistant Operations Officer at the Navy Talent Acquisition Group Michigan.
He most recently served as the Auxiliaries Officer aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) and completed her 2025 deployment.
CDR Martinez’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign, service, and unit awards. He is qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer.
