Cdr. Anthony W. Oxendine Jr. is a native of Pensacola, Florida. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1992, into the nuclear propulsion program. In May of 1993 he graduated from Nuclear Power Training Unit, in Charleston, S.C.
His enlisted assignments include Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston, S.C. (MTS 635), as a staff instructor; USS Nebraska (SSBN 739), where earned his Enlisted Submarine Warfare qualification; again at Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston, S.C. (MTS 635), as a Training Engineering Officer of the Watch and Engineering Duty Officer. Additionally, he served as a Naval Reactors Technical Assistant at the Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston, S.C., in the Naval Reactors Representative’s Office.
In June 2005, Oxendine received his commission as a Limited Duty Officer. His first assignment was USS George Washington (CVN 73), where he served as Main Propulsion Technical Assistant qualifying Engineering Officer of the Watch and Officer of the Deck and earned his Surface Warfare Officer qualifications.
Other sea assignments include USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), as Repair Officer and Assistant Ship’s Maintenance Manager; USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), as Ship’s Maintenance Manager; USS Frank Cable (AS 40), as Production Management Assistant; USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), as Chief Engineer.
Oxendine has completed deployments on nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers to the 5th, 6th, 7th Fleet and SOUTHCOM areas of operation.
Ashore, he has served as Material Officer for Commander, Submarine Group 8, and Operational Type Desk Officer for Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet. He currently serves as the Executive Officer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Bremerton, Wash.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit commendations and service ribbons.
Oxendine is married to Stacy Oxendine, of Wanamingo, Minn. He has five children, Trey (32), Noah (30), Avery (21), Braden (17) and Emerson (15).
