CAPT Fitzpatrick is a native of Mannford, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1994 and served four years as a nuclear trained Machinist’s Mate. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and from the University of Florida in 2009 with a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
CAPT Fitzpatrick’s division officer tours were aboard USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80) where he served as First Lieutenant and aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) where he served as Reactor Controls Division Officer. As a department head, he served as Operations Officer aboard USS ELROD (FFG 55), and Reactor Training Assistant aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). He served as Officer In Charge onboard USS LEWIS B. PULLER (ESB 3) where he led the Gold MILCREW through initial manning, training, certification, and her maiden deployment.
Ashore, CAPT Fitzpatrick completed both officer and enlisted nuclear power training pipelines, served as an enlisted Staff Instructor at Nuclear Power Training Unit, Charleston, served as Director, Officer Department at Naval Nuclear Power School, as an Engineering Assessor for conventionally powered ships at Engineering Assessments Atlantic, and finally as Executive Officer of Afloat Training Group Atlantic.
CAPT Fitzpatrick completed his Command Ashore tour at AEGIS Ashore Romania, served as Assistant Reactor Officer onboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75), and is currently serving as Site Executive Officer of Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and various other medals and service ribbons.
