Commander Marcus Machart is a native of Oberlin, Kansas. He enlisted in the Navy as a Nuclear Electrician’s Mate in December 1993. He advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 2002.
Machart was commissioned as a Nuclear Limited Duty Officer in 2003. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology through Excelsior University. He has earned his Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from University of Massachusetts Global.
His at sea commands include USS William H. Bates (SSN 680), USS Wyoming (SSBN 742), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS North Carolina (SSN 777) and USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) as Reactor Maintenance Assistant and as Chief Engineer. These sea commands encompassed nine deployments supporting various operations in multiple theaters.
Ashore, he served as Enlisted Assistant to the Director, Naval Reactors, Deputy Director, Nuclear Repair Maintenance Detachment Norfolk, Operational Submarine Type Desk Officer for Commander, Submarine Force Atlantic (SUBLANT), Executive Officer for SUBLANT Shipyard Representatives office HII and Production Maintenance Assistant at Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, Connecticut.
He currently serves as the Deputy Commander of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (eight awards), and various campaign and unit citations.
