CMDCM Demetric M. Hairston, USN

Command Master Chief, Surface Warfare/Aviation Warfare

A native of Columbus, MS, Master Chief Demetric M. Hairston graduated from Columbus High School in June 1998. He then enlisted into the United States Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, in November 1998.  After completing basic training, he attended Machinists’ Mate “A” School at Service Schools Command in Great Lakes, IL. 

Hairston’s sea duty assignments include USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3), USS Essex (LHD 2), USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), and USS Emory S. Land (AS 39).

His shore commands include Center for Naval Engineering Great Lakes (CNE), Recruit Training Command as a Recruit Division Commander, and Navy Provisional Detainee Battalion (NPDB) 4, as an Individual Augmentee to Camp Bucca, located in Umm Qasr, Iraq.

Hairston was selected to the Command Master Chief program in 2017. He is a Graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 190 Gold) and Command Master Chief/Chief of The Boat (Class 171).

He reported to Strike Fighter Squadron 151 “Vigilantes” in Lemoore, CA, June 2017, and his major command tour at Surface Warfare Engineering School Command (SWESC) in Great Lakes, IL, in February 2020. 

In June 2022, he reported to and is currently serving as Flag Command Master Chief over Commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC) and Surface Ships Maintenance and Modernization (SEA 21). 

Hairston’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three), and various unit and campaign awards.
