During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

Two NUWC Division Newport employees win 2024 American Society of Naval Engineers awards

Michael Connelly, technical project manager for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Undersea Warfare Platforms and Payload Integration Department, is the winner of the 2024 Frank C. Jones Award from the American Society of Naval Engineers, which recognizes naval engineering professionals who have substantially and significantly contributed to their agency’s intermediate alteration programs.
