During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

NUWC Division Newport employees support FIRST Robotics Competition at University of Rhode Island

Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport Commanding Officer Capt. Chad Hennings speaks with students on Team 78 AIR STRIKE from Aquidneck Island Robotics during the FIRST Robotics Competition's New England regional event held March 13-15 at the University of Rhode Island. Hennings was a keynote speaker during the opening ceremony on March 14, 2025.
