During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. Four Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport employees shared their life stories during “The Knot: Stories from the Workforce,” with the theme “Born to Do This” on July 12, 2023. The speakers are Steven Masterson (from left), head of the Corporate Operations Department’s Information Technology Division and activity chief information officer; Dr. Lauren Freeman, a senior oceanographer in the Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department; and Sensors and Sonar Systems Department employees, Chris Carr, a technical project manager, and Dr. Christin Murphy, head of the Signal Processing Algorithm Development Branch.
