During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) held a groundbreaking for its new production training facility July 1, which will consolidate training currently spread across 26 different NNSY locations and eight departments into a single 157,000 square-foot, $64.7 million dollar facility. Scott Larimer

Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) lead systems engineer Scott Larimer (left) works at the “net control” station during the 2022 Marine Corps Marathon. Larimer volunteers his amateur radio skills to about 40 area events each year. Larimer received the NSWCDD Distinguished Community Service Award for his dedication to community service on March 10 at the NSWCDD Honorary Awards Ceremony.
