During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

Two retired NUWC Division Newport engineers earn DON Meritorious Civilian Service Awards

Charles McSoley, a retired program manager from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC), received a Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award on Dec. 16, 2022. McSoley was recognized for his leadership in numerous projects of importance and for leading the AUTEC Program Office in determining strategy and future requirements in conjunction with the Office of Naval Operations.
