Before Rosie the Riveter
This iconic photograph was taken May 29, 1919. It features women working as rivet heaters and passers at Puget Sound Navy Yard, in Bremerton, Washington, just after the end of World War I. These women foreshadowed the arrival of “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II.
