During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

NUWC Division Newport employees receive Superior, Meritorious Civilian Service Awards

Dr. Aileen Sansone (right), a retired engineer in the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport's Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles Department, received the DON Meritorious Civilian Service Award during a Nov. 29 retirement ceremony attended by her husband, Lou Sansone, NUWC Division Newport's technical program manager for the Naval Array Technical Support Center.
