During the visit, Owens and Cramer met with senior leadership from PHNSY & IMF to assess progress on the Navy’s Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program and tour the shipyard’s dry dock areas that will be modernized beginning in 2023. The first modernization action proposes to construct and operate a new graving dry dock and waterfront production facility to support current and future classes of the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) held a groundbreaking for its new production training facility July 1, which will consolidate training currently spread across 26 different NNSY locations and eight departments into a single 157,000 square-foot, $64.7 million dollar facility. Bold Alligator 2014

Alligator 2014. Miller spoke at the National Disability Employment Awareness Month observance held at Combat Direction Systems Activity, Dam Neck, Va., Oct. 28, 2015. The EOD Chief received the Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star Medal with Valor after he was severely injured by a land mine in Afghanistan. He received rehabilitation treatment at Bethesda Walter Reed Medical Center where he persevered and was able to walk again in 31 days, returning to work within three months. He fought to remain on active duty status and is preparing for another deployment.
