Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis Site Director Matt Brantz explains the history of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division’s Large Cavitation Channel to visiting researchers and scientists participating in the Cavitation-Resistant Materials and Coating workshop on July 25, 2024, in Memphis, Tenn. The group had the opportunity to watch live erosion testing inside the site’s advanced high-speed, variable-pressure water tunnel. Carderock is one of the Navy’s pre-eminent research and development facilities that specializes in critical ship design components headquartered in West Bethesda, Md. The Carderock Division supports small-scale model testing and evaluation of next-generation surface ships and underwater vessels.
