Dahlgren, Va. - DAHLGREN, Va. – Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) physicist Dr. Dan Parks, left, briefs renowned Israeli physicist Dr. Yakir Aharonov on the Dahlgren-built homodyne detector designed to measure the properties of squeezed light, a specially prepared quantum state of light. Parks received the NSWCDD 2020 In-house Laboratory Independent Research Excellence Award for his investigation into the Canonical Optical Weak Value Amplifier Device, the command announced, Dec. 7. “I want to express my thanks to the NSWC Dahlgren Division leadership for recognizing the importance of quantum physics to the future of the fleet and the security of our nation,” said Parks who retired prior to the announcement.
