AUTEC personnel save green sea turtle entangled by rope, nets

NEWPORT, R.I. - A large green sea turtle was found ensnared by fishing lines, nets and ropes in the harbor at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Atlantic Underwater Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC), a deep-water range located on Andros Island in the Bahamas, on July 13. Mike Beres and Greg Johnson, members of the AUTEC Fire and Emergency Services Water Rescue Team, located the endangered turtle and cut away the deadly ball of debris.
