Bethesda, MD - Members of University of Washington’s Human-Powered Submarine team make adjustments to The Underdawg during the 15th International Human-Powered Submarine Races on June 25, 2019. This biennial science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) event was hosted at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division’s David Taylor Model Basin in West Bethesda, Md., and provides an avenue for high school and college teams to tackle the difficult challenges of submarine design, construction and operation.
