ATLANTIC OCEAN (July 21, 2016)
USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) successfully launches an SM-2 Standard Missile from the aft Vertical Launching System as part of their Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT). The Spanish Navy Ship Cristobol Colon (F-105) and Arleigh Burke are conducting cooperative air defense test exercises including Tactical Data Link interoperability tests of the latest AEGIS Baseline 9.C1 with a foreign ship, as well as the first combined Combat Systems Ship Qualification Trial with the Spanish Navy since 2007. These types of cooperative events with our allies and partners deepen our operational relationships, making us collectively stronger and better postured to face new and emerging challenges.
