Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center’s (FDRMC) Commanding Officer Capt. Brian Karosich and Executive Director Christopher Ledlow visited the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) located at Naval Support Facility (NSF) Redzikowo, Poland. FDRMC is responsible for the planned maintenance and modernization of AAMDS as well as emergent repairs through fleet technical assistance. FDRMC project teams oversee comprehensive Chief of Naval Operations maintenance availability on-site. Planned maintenance periods ensures Aegis Ashore receives needed repair and modernization so that it remains fully mission capable throughout its service to the NATO alliance.

Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility Named Naval Supervising Authority and Lead Maintenance Activity for Submarine Rotational Force - West
August 3, 2023 — WASHINGTON - Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command Vice Adm. Bill Galinis named Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF) as the Naval Supervising Authority (NSA) and Lead Maintenance Activity (LMA) for Submarine Rotational Force – West (SRF-W) July 26. As the NSA/LMA, PHNSY & IMF will support the establishment of SRF-W, which is the first phase of the AUKUS Pillar One effort that is delivering conventionally armed nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs) to Australia. NSWC Crane employee awarded for significant contributions in preparation for the Inspector General Inspection
August 2, 2023 — Garry Wieneke was awarded the Civilian Service Commendation Medal, which is the fourth highest honorary award within the Department of the Navy, for his work as the Command Inspection Coordinator. In this role Wieneke was charged with preparing NSWC Crane for an upcoming inspection performed by the Inspector General. Upon receiving his award Wieneke stated that he was incredibly honored to receive such a prestigious award. “I am humbled and honored to receive this Civilian Service Commendation Medal. Garry Wieneke was awarded the Civilian Service Commendation Medal, which is the fourth highest honorary award within the Department of the Navy, for his work as the Command Inspection Coordinator. In this role Wieneke was charged with preparing NSWC Crane for an upcoming inspection performed by the Inspector General. Wieneke oversaw an inspection preparation team from across the command who performed mock inspections, ensured processes are up-to-date, and self-assessed NSWC Crane’s compliance areas. Wieneke also traveled to an Inspector General Inspection at the Southeast Regional Maintenance Center in Jacksonville, Florida to better understand the overall inspection process and document lessons learned.

Navy Lays Keel for Future USS Oklahoma (SSN 802)
August 2, 2023 — Senior Navy leaders and shipbuilders gathered at HII-Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) Wednesday, Aug. 2, to attend a keel-laying authentication for the future Virginia-class submarine USS Oklahoma (SSN 802). The keel laying signifies a major milestone in the life of a ship where the ship begins to transition from design to reality.
