Delta Pier at NBK-Bangor

Delta Pier at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, Washington, as viewed from the air above Hood Canal. The unique design of the Delta Pier was constructed parallel to the shoreline for ecological preservation reasons, and has one of the largest dry docks built by the Navy. It can support simultaneous maintenance on five of Pacific Fleet’s eight assigned Trident submarines at one time.

The historical hammerhead crane at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton, Washington, is silhouetted at sunrise. The PSNS & IMF hammerhead crane was built in 1933, and stands 250 feet (76 m) tall and 80 feet (24 m). In its heyday it could lift 250 tons.

Two submarines scheduled for recycling are moved into Dry dock #2 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton, Washington. Building 460 sits to the left (east) of the dry dock and the historical hammerhead crane is at the end of Pier 6 on the right (west) of Dry dock #2.

Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Everett Detachment operates refit piers and repair shops at Naval Station Everett, which sits next to the marina area of the city of Everett, Washington, 25 miles north of Seattle.

April 7, 2026 - The U.S. Navy has evaluated ex-Long Beach (CGN 9) for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). The final determination of ineligibility for the NRHP listing is now open for public commenting.
