WASHINGTON
- Capt. Keith Lehnhardt relieved Capt. Gregg Baumann as the Director of Ocean
Engineering, Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV), May 18.
Lehnhardt
reports to SUPSALV after serving as Program Executive Officer, Maritime in the
Special Operations Force Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Directorate at
the U.S. Special Operations Command. His
previous tours include Commanding Officer, Navy Experimental Diving Unit, Officer
in Charge, Diving Systems Detachment, Deep Submergence Unit, and a tour at
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard conducting submarine repairs.
“I
am thrilled to take the helm of this fast-paced and critical element of the
Navy’s salvage and diving leadership.
The professionals in this office develop the techniques, establish the
standards and enforce the policy which ensure diver safety and expand the
capabilities of the US Navy’s diving program,” said Lehnhardt. “I am looking
forward to working with the team as we move forward to continue to protect our
nation’s interests and equip our divers & fleet for the future.”
Baumann,
who served as SUPSALV director since October 2014, retired from the Navy after
30 years of service.
The
Office of the Director of Ocean Engineering, Supervisor of Salvage, directs
development and maintenance of the Navy's salvage, underwater ship husbandry,
diving, and certification program for the U.S. Navy.
