Last Thursday, we hosted our 10th annual Bring a Child to Work Day! We opened our doors to the children of SWRMC employees and gave them a front-row seat to see how we achieve our mission of supporting the Navy. This fun and educational event also aims to inspire careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. This event allowed children to tour our production shops, dry dock and ships on the waterfront; interact with divers; participate in physical fitness and process improvement challenges; and get hands on with demonstrations from our Safety, IT, Engineering, Expeditionary Maintenance, and Quality Assurance teams! We want to give a huge thank you to the Naval Base San Diego Military Working Dogs and to the crews of USS Sterett (DDG 104), USS Portland (LPD 27), USS Kansas City (LCS 22), USS Mustin (DDG 89) and USS Princeton (CG 59) for supporting our event with tours of your ship. Last but certainly not least, thank you to the volunteers of SWRMC for organizing and working our best Bring a Child to Work Day yet!
