New department heads for Code 120 and Code 100TO bring a wealth of experience to their respective roles

By Ben Hutto, PSNS & IMF Public Affairs

In late 2023, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility welcomed two new department heads as Robert LaTendresse took over as department head of Code 100TO, Command Transformation Office, and Jeremy McCrimmon assumed the department head position for Code 120, Ocean Engineering.

LaTendresse previously served as the PSNS & IMF Nuclear Test Engineering division head, a position he assumed in May of 2019. He was responsible for managing all aspects of nuclear reactor plant testing and operations in support of shipyard maintenance, overhaul and repair for PSNS & IMF, as well as detachments at Bangor, Washington, San Diego, and Yokosuka, Japan. LaTendresse began working at PSNS & IMF in 2002 and served in many capacities as he progressed to his current position.

“The primary mission of the 100TO Office will be providing the expertise and visibility to drive technology insertion and large-scale improvements for the command,” said LaTendresse.

LeTendresse expressed his excitement about the possibilities and solutions his department will help spearhead.

“Getting the opportunity to lead the Command Transformation Office is very exciting,” said LaTendresse. “There is an incredible amount of energy going into reshaping and supporting the shipyard’s ability to deliver ships. The Transformation Office will get to identify those potential solutions and work with all of the amazing people here at PSNS & IMF. This approach will turn that action into supporting mechanics and improve the way we plan, prepare for and execute work."

Before being named department head for Code 120, Ocean Engineering, McCrimmon was assigned as the division manager for the Code 130, Quality Assurance Department, to address command-level problems and to apply his leadership, skill, and ability to coordinate formal command responses, and equip leaders and teams with effective planning and communication.

“I will continue to focus with my leadership team on both sustaining and improving employee culture and morale,” said McCrimmon. “I want the place where we spend the majority of our time to be an engaging place, enjoyable and fulfilling for our employees.”

McCrimmon began working at PSNS & IMF in 2000, when he accepted a position in Code 250.2, Structural Submarines Branch. After serving with several codes at PSNS & IMF, McCrimmon was selected to be the Code 130 department head for the Ship Repair Facility and Regional Maintenance Center in Yokosuka, Japan, before returning to PSNS & IMF in November 2023.

“Many of the disciplines that we rely on throughout the command are represented inside the four walls of Ocean Engineering,” McCrimmon said. “I have been exposed to many parts of our business throughout my career… I was drawn to the capability of applying my learning to influence positive change in our culture, and deliver highly-important mission results for the U.S. Navy and the nation.”

Armed with a wealth of experience and clear vision to enhance the Navy’s maritime dominance and strengthen its industrial base, both men said they feel confident about their departments moving into 2024.
