Another job well done by the members of the SWRMC Alpha Dive team for the successful inspection, repair, and testing of the Hub Seal on the port Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) onboard USS Princeton.
The Dive team, in coordination with NAVSEA Technical Representatives, Port Engineers, and our internal QA, Engineering and Production shops, conducted 27 high-risk dives accumulating 117 hours of incident free bottom time. Repairs consisted of underwater weld grinding, hydraulic fluid removal, the removal, testing and reinstallation of 25 bolts, heavy rigging, and final testing of the CPP system.
This repair was a first for SWRMC and only the third repair of its kind to be accomplished in-water. Thanks to the Alpha dive team, Princeton was able to deploy with minimal delay to their mission. We are proud of our world-class divers, maintenance teams, and their readiness to support the Fleet!
