DAHLGREN, Va. –
Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division’s (NSWCDD) Willie Crank has been selected as a 2022 recipient of the Department of the Navy (DoN) Meritorious Civilian Service Award (MCSA). The DoN MCSA is the third highest honorary award and is granted to individuals who have made contributions of high value to the Navy with relevant impacts at the warfare center level.
In June 2012, Crank began his journey with NSWCDD after earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Hampton University. Since then, he has proved to be a critical asset to the warfighter and to his fellow team members in the Warfare Analysis and Digital Modeling Department. Currently, Crank works as a senior warfare mission analyst which requires collaboration and communication with a variety of different departments across NSWCDD. His efforts consistently prove to be a key component to decision makers across NSWCDD and the Navy as a whole.
Crank was nominated for leading the performance assessment of emergent naval systems to determine future fleet capability to counter hypersonic threats. His work with personnel from the different warfare centers, intelligence organizations, external research laboratories and program offices across the kill chain ensured accurate system representations in mission analysis.
With Crank’s dedication and passion for assisting the warfighter, he increased collaboration between the different organizations and NSWCDD. Crank’s critical analysis provided the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations with key analytical insights into the Navy's defense against hypersonic threats and informed high level investment strategy decisions.
NSWCDD is proud of the continued dedication and service that Crank provides the warfighter as he consistently strives to go above and beyond his duties.
