YOKOSUKA, Japan –
USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) completed a four-month Selected Restricted Availability May 11 in Yokosuka, Japan. The availability was completed two days early—a major win for the entire team.
The team was made up of talented and dedicated workers from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, ship’s force and various alteration installation teams, who collaborated to meet project milestones, overcome obstacles and complete ahead of schedule.
“The team managed to plan and fully execute a challenging maintenance period, ahead of schedule, to support ongoing operations in our most important theater of operations,” said Adm. Samuel J. Paparo, commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, in a Bravo Zulu message to the team. “This accomplishment is a direct result of the combined team’s engaged leadership, outstanding teamwork, and professionalism. Congratulations on a job well done!”
Monte Levin, Ronald Reagan project superintendent, has similar words of praise for the team.
“I appreciate the hard work and dedication the integrated project team exhibited during the SRA,” said Levin. “There were several challenges during the SRA but, despite these challenges, the team methodically swarmed to each problem as it arose and completed this availability early.”
Similar to PSNS & IMF’s mission to provide the U.S. Navy with high quality, on-time maintenance, modernization, recycling and support that helps assure America's dominance at sea, SRF-JRMC’s mission is to keep the U.S. 7th Fleet operationally ready by maintaining, modernizing and repairing 21 forward-deployed ships homeported in Yokosuka and Sasebo. The SRF-JRMC motto is, "nandemo dekimasu,” which means, “We can do anything.”

Ronald Reagan, the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, returned to Yokosuka Oct. 16, 2021, following a five-month deployment across 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation. During Ronald Reagan’s deployment, the embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 flew more than 14,800 flight hours, and the ship transited nearly 43,000 nautical miles.
