Dr. Alison Smith Announced as Finalist for Prestigious Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals

Dr. Alison Smith, Chief Engineer of Materials Analysis for Microelectronic Component Technologies at NSWC Crane was announced as a finalist for the prestigious Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals (also known as “the Sammies”) on Monday.

 

The Sammies, known as the “Oscars” of government service, are a highly respected honor with a vigorous selection process. Named for the Partnership for Public Service’s late founder who was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s call to serve in 1963, these awards align with his vision of a dynamic and innovative federal workforce that meets the needs of the American people.

Crane Employee Selected as Junior Civilian Public Affairs Specialist of the Year

 

Ms. Lisa Oswald, Public Affairs Specialist at NSWC Crane was announced as the winner of the 2017 Thompson-Ravitz (TR) Junior Civilian Public Affairs Specialist of the Year. Her work in the Corporate Communications’ Office has helped bring tremendous value to NSWC Crane’s communication efforts.

 

The Thompson-Ravitz awards are selected by the Chief of Naval Information and are recognized as premiere awards throughout the entire U.S. Navy. The TR awards recognize the exceptional work in communication program research, planning, execution and evaluation by individuals and communication teams throughout the Navy and reflect the highest qualities of communications community.

 

NSWC Crane Employee Named Association of Old Crows Scholarship Winner

NSWC Crane's own Mr. Ryan Loehrleinn was selected by The Association of Old Crows (AOC) Educational Foundation (AEF) to receive one of two scholarships being awarded to college students studying in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).  The scholarships are funded by a $25,000 donation from the Raytheon Corporation.  Mr. Loehrleinn and Mr. Eugene DeNezza - Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University were selected from applicants nationwide, and Mr. Loehrleinn was presented with a $12,500 check during NSWC Crane's AOC Conference on Wednesday. Mr. Brian Hinkley, AOC Board of Directors presented the scholarship and check on behalf of AOC.  Mr. Loehrleinn is working on his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Finance at the University of Southern Indiana and is currently a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Airborne Electronic Attack Systems Division (WXS).

NSWC Crane Hosted 10th Annual AOC Conference

NSWC Crane co-hosted the 10th annual Electronic Warfare (EW) Capability Gaps and Enabling Technologies Conference with the Association of Old Crows (AOC) from May 8-10.

The goal of this year’s event was to provide an interactive forum for EW professionals from the military, government, industry and academic fields to discuss technologies and capabilities related to the requirements of EW programs, platforms and operations within the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS).

 

This three-day event – which featured a number of national leaders – focused on identifying fleet gaps and technologies the services require to ensure EW maintains freedom of maneuver through the EMS.

NSWC Crane’s 2017 Annual Report is Released

NSWC Crane has recently released the 2017 Annual Report, available for the public. Within the document, Crane’s leadership, features and highlights throughout the calendar year are recognized. This report serves as a tool to keep stakeholders informed while also cementing record as a historical document that captures milestones, accomplishments and Crane news as it stood in 2017.
