NSWC Dahlgren Division hosts Navy Laboratory Centers Coordinating Group

By NSWC Dahlgren Corporate Communications Division

DAHLGREN, Va. - The Naval Laboratory Centers Coordinating Group (NLCCG) gathers outside of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) headquarters as several members hold a poster depicting the Naval Research and Development Establishment commands and organizations.

The NLCCG - a group consisting of commanding officers and research directors for the Department of the Navy - joined Dr. John Burrow, special assistant to senior defense leader Sean Stackley, for an overview of NSWCDD technological programs in addition to tours and demonstrations at the command's labs and facilities where Navy scientists and engineers work on directed energy, high energy lasers, electromagnetic railgun, hypervelocity projectile, human systems integration, and chemical, biological and radiological defense.

The group promotes sharing of facilities and resources such as test ranges as they engage with NLCCG centers and laboratories across the nation. The collaborations are expected to foster an increased ability to co-develop new technology and work together on platform integration for new weapons.

The Naval Laboratory and Centers Coordinating Group is the Navy's principal coordinating body for in-house activities. This group is very active in aligning processes for the work the Navy accepts from customers; establishing common processes for measuring the technical core capabilities and capacity of the workforce; and establishing Navy-wide definitions for technical core capabilities and competencies as a part of measuring and maintaining the ability to deliver the Navy after Next while ensuring today's is always ready to fight.
