West Bethesda, Maryland - The Columbia-class submarine model Pike is tugged through the waters of Lake Pend Oreille in Bayview, Idaho, by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division personnel in August 2022. The command’s Acoustic Research Detachment is the Navy’s hidden gem for acoustic testing because of its geographical location and quiet waters.
