PORT HUENEME, Calif. - U.S. Navy Reservist Petty Officer 2nd Class Steven Jaramillo (left) works on the Self Defense Test Ship’s main engine at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division with the help of Hull Maintenance Technician 1st Class Felicity Trejo on Feb. 3. Both Jaramillo and Trejo are part of the Navy’s Surge Maintenance program. Established in 2005, the Surge Maintenance program has sailors with specialized military and civilian skillsets that allow them to support the Navy’s four shipyards during peak workload periods.
