James F. Geurts, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition, looks into Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility’s Dry Dock #3. In Fiscal Year 2023 once the last Los Angeles-class submarine availability is complete, the shipyard’s Dry Dock #3 will become obsolete due to its size. To maintain and grow PHNSY & IMF’s nuclear maintenance capacity and provide best value to taxpayers, the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program will optimize this critical shipyard location.
