(June 26, 2019) – Middle school students prepare for an aerospace engineering rocketry activity at the 2019 Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) Summer Academy, held June 24-28. They were among 70 middle school students who constructed and calibrated their water rockets while discovering the optimal amount of fuel (water) to launch a ball the highest. The STEM Summer ‘campers’ worked in teams to organize and analyze their data in order to determine what fuel volume will result in the highest launch.
