Quebec’s Omer 11 is the big winner at the sub races in Maryland

Bethesda, MD - Omer 11 pilot Felix Garneau wipes down L’Ecole de Technologie Superieure’s submarine before entering Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division’s David Taylor Model Basin for day three of the International Submarine Races in West Bethesda, Md., on June 26, 2019. Carderock is hosting the 15th International Human-Powered Submarine Races in its 3,200-foot David Taylor Model Basin i. This biennial science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) event, sponsored by the Foundation for Underwater Research and Education, provides an avenue for high school and college teams to tackle the difficult challenges of submarine design, construction and operation.
