(June 28, 2018) - Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Chief Innovation Officer Nelson Mills demonstrates the Bluescape collaboration software for James Geurts, Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research for Development and Acquisition, during his tour of the NSWCDD Innovation Lab (iLab). NSWCDD Commanding Officer Capt. Godfrey 'Gus' Weekes looks on as Mills explains how the virtual workspace allows for real-time cloud-based collaboration. Virtualization and directed energy were among the briefs NSWCDD scientists and engineers presented to Geurts who also observed a laser demonstration. As the Navy's acquisition executive, Geurts has oversight of an annual budget in excess of $60 billion and is responsible for equipping and supporting Sailors and Marines with the best platforms, systems and technology as they operate around the globe in defense of the nation.
