Navy scientist Dr. Chris Weiland briefed visitors on the coordinated use of unmanned aerial vehicles for intelligence and targeting at a demonstration of Surface and Expeditionary Warfare Mission Module weapons at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), March 28. Navy scientists and engineers will integrate the mission module - comprising NSWCDD-developed engagement system technology and a Battle Management System - with Textron Systems' developmental Common Unmanned Surface Vehicle (CUSV). A cooperative research and development agreement between NSWCDD and Textron Systems covers the integration of missile, designator, and remote weapon station payloads to the developmental CUSV.
