IMAGE: DAHLGREN, Va. (Oct. 16, 2017) – Military and civilian personnel learn more about the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) command in the exhibit tent while celebrating the centennial of the Navy base at Dahlgren. Aegis BMD is both the Navy element of the Missile Defense Agency, as well as a field activity of the Naval Sea Systems Command. It builds upon and extends capabilities inherent in the Aegis Weapon System, Standard Missile, and Navy command and control systems. Aegis BMD ships provide the Combatant Commanders with significant flexibility to meet changing operational demands.
