Keel Laid on Future USS Bougainville

The laying of the keel traditionally marked the first step in ship construction. With today's advanced modular shipbuilding, the keel laying ceremony now recognizes the joining together of a ship's components and is a major milestone in the ship's construction.
March 14, 2019 - PASCAGOULA, Miss. -- The keel laying and authentication ceremony for the future USS Bougainville (LHA 8) was held at the Huntington Ingalls Industries' Ingalls Shipbuilding division (HII), March 14.

Future USS Cincinnati (LCS 20) Scores Highest
The future littoral combat ship USS Cincinnati (LCS 20) conducts acceptance trials in the Gulf of Mexico.
March 6, 2019 - MOBILE, Ala. — The Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey awarded the future USS Cincinnati (LCS 20) a “93”—the highest score to date for an Independence variant—after successfully completing acceptance trials in the Gulf of Mexico Feb. 8.

AN/AQS-20C Sonar System Completes Developmental Testing
PANAMA CITY, Florida - The AN/AQS-20C towed mine-hunting sonar is streamed into Gulf of Mexico waters of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, Florida. Gulf test range. Developmental Testing was completed on Feb. 12, 2019. The testing marks completion of incorporating the Charlie variant sonar sensor modernization.
Feb. 26, 2019 - PANAMA CITY, Fla. — The Navy announced completion of developmental testing for the AN/AQS-20C mine-hunting sonar system at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division, Feb. 26.
