ATLANTIC OCEAN - ATLANTIC OCEAN -- Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) fires a standard missile (SM-2) during Combat System Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT) in the Atlantic Ocean on Feb.18, 2024. The crew's successful intercept of an air target with a missile (SM-2) is a first for a ship running a virtualized Aegis Combat System. This milestone, achieved during the ship's final phase of CSSQT, marks a significant contribution to the Navy's wider effort to field a single integrated combat system to surface ships.
