WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, NM - A sounding rocket soars skyward at Launch Complex 36 at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico on Oct. 14 to capture data on the annular solar eclipse. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division’s White Sands Detachment launched three rockets in short succession — one 35 minutes before the peak of the eclipse, one during the peak and another 35 minutes later.
