LCDR William Traylor began serving as Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport’s Acting Executive Officer in June 2023. Prior to this assignment, he served as Division, Keyport’s Combat Systems Fleet Liaison in support of Undersea Acoustic Communications In Service Engineering Agent beginning in December 2016.
His enlisted tours of duty include the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) from 2001 2004 in Yokosuka, Japan, Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville from 2004 2008, USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) from 2007 2008 and USS George Washington (CVN-73) from 2008 2011 in Yokosuka, Japan.
While attached to USS George Washington, he was the only enlisted sailor to qualify and stand Officer of the Deck Underway which ultimately led to his selection into the Limited Duty Officer Program.
LCDR Traylor commissioned as an Ensign in the Surface Electronics Limited Duty Officer designator in March 2011.
He was then assigned as the RADAR/Navigation Division Officer on USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) from 2011 2014. Having served on multiple carriers, LCDR Traylor requested a tour on a destroyer next in which he was sent to
USS Hopper (DDG-70) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii from 2014 2016 and served as the Electronics Material Officer and Ship Maintenance Material Officer. From Feb 2020 to Nov 2021, he served on USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) in the RADAR/Navigation Division and in Fire Control Officer duties.
Born in Pell City, Alabama, LCDR Traylor enlisted in the United States Navy June 1996 under the Advanced Electronics Computer Field. In December 1997 as an Electronics Technician, he reported to his first duty station at Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station Far East Yokosuka, Japan, specializing in submarine broadcast equipment.
LCDR Traylor has completed ten deployments that include operations that supported Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Freedom Sentinel, Octave Quartz, and Inherent Resolve. He has earned five Navy Commendation Medals, four Navy Achievement Medals and various other personal and unit awards.
