Captain Sid Hodgson, USN

Commanding Officer, AEGIS Technical Representative

CAPT Sid Hodgson is originally from the Philadelphia, PA area. A Presidential Scholar, he graduated and received his commission in May 1997 from Villanova University as the Distinguished Naval Graduate. He most recently served as the Major Program Manager for Rolling Airframe Missile and Close-in Weapon Systems in Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS 11.0).

His initial sea tour was as Communications Officer and C4I Officer aboard USS DETROIT (AOE 4) during Operation Desert Fox. CAPT Hodgson’s next assignment was as Auxiliaries Officer in USS TORTUGA (LSD 46), the Standing Naval Force Atlantic flagship. He served as Chief Engineer in USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44) during Operation Iraqi Freedom, completing a West African deployment. His most recent sea tour was as Officer in Charge of Inshore Boat Unit 42 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His unit was responsible for conducting maritime security at the Iraqi Oil Platforms, Kuwaiti Naval Base and Jebel Ali Port, UAE. As OIC, he served as Commander Task Element Jebel Ali, UAE responsible for the force protection of all high value assets in the world’s second busiest commercial port.

Ashore, he has served as Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the George Washington University NROTC Unit where he taught Navigation and mentored over 200 midshipmen. He became an Engineering Duty Officer in October 2008, completed the EDO Basic Course and his Engineering Duty Officer Qualification tour at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division serving first as the command’s Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) 5.0 Baseline Manager and then as Weapons Systems Engineering Deputy Technical Project Lead for BMD. Additionally, he served as the Deputy PAPM for STANDARD Missile which includes STANDARD Missile 2 and 6 for AEGIS Cruisers and Destroyers where he was part of the team that delivered the first SM-6 to the Fleet.

CAPT Hodgson earned Master's degrees in Business Administration (MBA) from the George Washington University and Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He is a member of the Acquisition Professionals Corps and is DAWIA Level III certified in Program Management and Level II certified in Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering.

His decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy Achievement Medal (3), the Admiral C.J. Rorie Award for Military Excellence, the U.S. Naval Surface Forces Leadership Award and various campaign and unit decorations.
