LCDR Jeffrey Buenaventura, USN

Executive Officer, Nuclear Power Training Unit, Ballston Spa, N.Y.

Lieutenant Commander Jeffrey Buenaventura is a native of La Habra, CA and recipient of a NROTC scholarship to University of California, Berkeley, where he completed a B.A. in Psychology in 2008.  He earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2014.

Following Nuclear Power and Prototype training in Charleston, SC in 2009, he reported to USS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI (SSN 705) in Guam, where he served as the Main Propulsion Assistant, Electrical Assistant, and Communications Officer.  He completed his qualification in submarines and as nuclear engineer while on board CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI.  His next tour was on USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN 784) in Groton, CT as the Assistant Operations Officer.  Following NPS, he reported to the USS MISSISSIPPI (SSN 782) as the Combat Systems Officer, where he completed two deployments.  Next, he reported to the USS MONTANA (SSN 794) as the Navigator/Operations Officer.  While onboard MONTANA, he temporally assigned to USS DELAWARE (SSN 791) to support the successful completion of Sea Trials.  Later, he served as the Engineer Officer on board PCU MASSACHUSETTS (SSN 798).

LCDR Buenaventura’s personal decorations include Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various campaign and unit awards including two Battle Efficiency ‘E’ Awards.
