Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Craig Lensegrav enlisted in the US Navy in May 2000. He graduated from the Nuclear Pipeline as a Machinist Mate Third Class. His first enlisted tour was onboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), where he served from 2001-2005. He reported to Nuclear Power Training Unit – Charleston, South Carolina, in September 2005 where he served as Moored Training Ship 626 Quality Assurance Nuclear Planner for shutdown availabilities. He graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a degree in Nuclear Engineering in 2008. In 2008, he was commissioned via Officer Candidate School into the Surface Warfare Officer Community. After commissioning, he reported to USS NASSAU (LHA 4) in Norfolk, Virginia, as the ship’s Electrical Division Officer and Combat Information Center Officer. His deployment was in direct support of Operation Unified Response (HA/DR for the earthquake in Haiti). He also earned his Surface Warrior Officer pin during this deployment. He was part of the decommissioning crew in March 2011. He then reported to USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) in July 2011, where he served as the ship’s Navigator.
LCDR Lensegrav lateral transferred to the Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) community in 2013. He report to Naval Postgraduate School – Monterey, California and earned a Master’s of Science in Applied Physics in June 2015. He reported for his EDO qualification tour at SPAWAR (now NAVWAR) Systems Center Atlantic, as part of the Fleet Integration Operations Detachment in Norfolk, Virginia. During this tour, LCDR Lensegrav served as the On-Sight Installation Coordinator and Project Officer for seven Chief of Naval Operations availabilities, including the first of its kind SWAN to CANES upgrade of an amphibious transport dock ship.
LCDR Lensegrav then reported to Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems 1.0, Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as the Aegis Test Officer for the Aegis Modernization Team – Det East. He was charged with the modernization of four guided missile destroyers and cruisers to the newest Aegis Baseline.
LCDR currently serves as the Executive Officer, Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center as well as the Operations Officer.
LCDR Lensegrav has been awarded two Navy Commendation Medal, six Navy Achievement Medals, and various unit and campaign awards.
