Captain Patrick “Shane” Brown, USN

Commanding Officer, Naval Sea Logistics Center

CAPT Shane Brown is currently assigned as the Commanding Officer at the Naval Sea Logistics Center in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Commissioned to the United States Navy upon graduation from the University of Idaho in 1993, CAPT Brown attended Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Ga.

Sea assignments include supply officer of the special operations capable submarine, USS KAMEHAMEHA (SSN-642), 1994-1997; stores and aviation supply officers aboard the aircraft carrier, USS CARL VINSON (CVN-70) from 1999-2001, and Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics and Readiness with Expeditionary Strike Group Five forward deployed out of Bahrain from 2011-2012. He is qualified as both a naval aviation and submarine supply officer.

CAPT Brown’s shore assignments include Director, Supply Chain Management with Naval Supply Systems Command (N3/4) 2014; Director, Operations Research and nalysis Division, Naval Supply Systems Command (N5) 2012-2014; Sealift Branch Chief, United States Transportation Command, Directorate for Strategy, Policy, Programs and Logistics (TCJ5J4-IS) 2008-2011; Chief of Naval Operations Staff, Readiness Assessments, Sustainment, Manpower, Personnel, Training, Infrastructure, & Strategic Planning Studies (OPNAV N81) 2005-2008; Senior Watch Officer, Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA J4), 2007; Readiness Officer, Commander Electronic Attack Wing, Pacific Fleet, Whidbey Island, WA, 2001-2003; and Business and Financial Management Intern, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, MD, 1997-1999.

CAPT Brown holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Idaho and completed Executive Education Programs at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia and Tuck Business School, Dartmouth College. In 2005 he received his Masters Degree in Operations Research from Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. His thesis was titled “Analyses of Iraqi Infrastructure Protection using Network Optimization and Simulation Tools.” He is a graduate of the Naval War College, College of Command and Staff “With Distinction” and the Joint Forces Staff College, Joint & Combined Warfighting School (JCWS). Professional certifications include DAWIA Level-2 Business and Financial Management, DAWIA Level-3 Life Cycle Logistics, Acquisition Professional Corps, and Joint Qualified Officer (JQO).
