CMDCM Lunsford assumed his current duties as Naval Leadership and Ethics Command San Diego Command Master Chief and Pacific Fleet Chief Petty Officer Training Team lead in April 2018.
A Bloomington, California native, Command Master Chief (SW/AW/FMF) Chad Lunsford enlisted in the Navy in April 1992. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, with follow on orders to complete Fire Controlman (FC) “A” and “C” schools, all in Great Lakes, Illinois.
At sea, he served onboard USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47), USS PREBLE (DDG 88), USS DEWEY (DDG 105), VFA 94, and USS AMERICA (LHA 6).
His shore billets include Fleet Training Center, San Diego, as an instructor, Naval Medical Center, San Diego Directorate of Mental Health Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL), and Navy Region Southwest serving as the Regional Command Master Chief.
CMDCM Lunsford became a Command Master Chief in 2010 and has lead as a CMC at VFA 94, USS AMERICA (LHA 6), Navy Region Southwest, Pacific Fleet Chief Petty Officer Training Team, and Naval Leadership and Ethics Command San Diego.
His personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), Good Conduct Medal (8 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and numerous unit and campaign awards. He is authorized to wear Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Fleet Marine Force pins.
Command Master Chief Lunsford is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 141, Brown group). He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from National University a master’s degree in business administration from Trident University International and a Ph.D. in business administration focused on management and organization from Trident University international.
